Empowering the Future: Scholarships for Students from Africa & Asia
View Scholarships & ApplyWe are a non-profit organization committed to supporting talented students from Africa and Asia who may not have the financial means to pursue higher education. Our scholarships are designed to remove these barriers by covering essential costs such as tuition, accommodation, travel, and health insurance.
We work in partnership with higher learning institutions to give students access to quality education across fields like engineering, medicine, business, and social development. Beyond academics, we support individuals who are driven to make a difference — those who want to give back to their communities and create meaningful change.
At its core, our program is about opportunity. We believe that when students are given the right support, they can grow into leaders who strengthen their communities. By investing in their education today, we are helping build a better future for tomorrow.
The HCI Scholarship Program provides a wide range of benefits that address the critical needs of international students pursuing higher education abroad. Below are the key benefits:

The HCI Scholarship is open to residents of low- to middle-income countries in Africa and Asia, as defined by international standards (e.g., World Bank classification).
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) or meet the specific academic requirements of the scholarship level they are applying for. We understand that grading systems varry across different countries. We therefore encourage students whose perfomance is above average to apply. We will use a consolidated formular to calculate the GPA for you.
For most scholarship programs, there is no application fee. HCI will always communicate beforehand if there is any payment involved. Please read our terms of service for more information.
Applications are typically reviewed within 4-6 weeks after the submission deadline. We do the selection in batches- which means individuals who apply on time are highly likely to be considered. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews, with final selections announced shortly after.
Yes, applicants are welcome to apply for multiple scholarships, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria for each one. However, the HCI Foundation typically awards only one scholarship per individual.
We recommend submitting your application as early as possible to avoid any delays. If you are missing certain documents, please contact the scholarship program office to discuss possible extensions or alternatives.
Shortlisted applicants will be notified by email and invited to attend an interview. If you do not receive a notification by the given date, your application was not selected for an interview.
Our focus is undergraduate and post graduate programmes. Occassionally we may roll out special programs targeting highschool graduates or individuals with basic education. Please check the specific program requirements before applyimg.
HCI board of management together with stakeholders from our partner institutions reached a consensus on 12/05/2024: Where HCI will help qualified students with visa application and processing, including any required payments to facilitate the process. Students whose passports will not be ready at the time of selection will be required to contact our academic affairs office. We will then contact the relevant governamnet agency or entity to request that the application be put under 'urgent-processing'.
The selection process includes a review of the submitted information. This inforamtion is carefully reviewed by a panel consisting of members from HCI, partner institutions and other moderators. The process is fair and selection is based on merit and command of language.
